Delivering what we promise

P W Gates level up with Totalkare

Hertfordshire logistics operator P W Gates Distribution has partnered with Totalkare for the supply and installation of equipment to improve its in-house vehicle repair and maintenance operations.

Offering warehousing, distribution, and trailer advertising along with being Ocado’s haulier, P W Gates offers next delivery throughout mainland UK. To ensure maximum fleet availability, the operator identified a need for equipment upgrades in its workshop.

Workshop equipment experts Totalkare were engaged to install heavy duty and light commercial vehicle lifts and brake testing equipment in what was a significant investment for P W Gates.

Offering a fixed point for regular lifting of  large commercial vehicles, P W Gates’ new heavy duty four post lift measures 9-metres in platform length and can lift up to 25,000kg. Alongside this, Totalkare has installed a 5.1-metre light commercial four post lift that can lift up to 4,000kg for the maintenance of smaller vehicles in the fleet.

Complementing each of these are two sets of Totalkare’s market leading T8DC cable-free mobile column lifts which offer further vehicle lifting capacity with the flexibility of being moved around the workshop when not in use. Lifting up to 7,500kg per column, the T8DC mobile column lift can be used in combinations of four, six or eight depending on the number of axles on the vehicle being lifted. It also offers Adjustable wheel forks to accommodate a wide variety of wheel diameters.

In addition, Totalkare has supplied a mobile brake tester that can effectively test vehicles up to 16,000kg with a high variation of wheelbases. The tablet interface allows for easy control and monitoring of test results, while the diagnostic print-out provides detailed information. Being mobile, it allows operators to achieve reliable brake tests without the need for civil installation works.

“Upgrading our workshop’s service capacity was made a very easy experience, installationwas smooth and the operator training was informative,” said Lee Fomes, Workshop Manager for P W Gates, “Our service capacity has improved noticeably, with greater fleet availability having a positive impact on our business.”

Adam Bowser, Sales & Marketing Director for Totalkare, had a similar sentiment, stating, “It was a pleasure collaborating with Lee. We look forward to exploring further opportunities to support P W Gates in the future.”
