P W Gates Sponsors the Juniors

P W Gates Distribution Ltd is supporting the local community by sponsoring the coaching team for junior players at North Mymms Cricket Club. Peter Gates’ father started and ran a successful cricket club, The Argonauts, at Waltham Cross during the 1960’s so he has a personal interest in the game.

The coaching team at North Mymms CC follow the English Cricket Board’s Junior Pathway programme, with their juniors competing in the Hertfordshire Junior Leagues. This year, alongside their regular coaching programme, North Mymms CC will include ‘Dynamos Cricket’. This is the next step for the juniors graduating from ‘All Stars Cricket’, targeting children aged 8-11.

The coaching sessions started on 29th March 2021, headed up by Nesan Jeyaratnam, the first team captain, assisted by Jon Mather, Dave Carlisle and Michael Rueth. They are all ECB Level 2 or 3 qualified and will run morning and afternoon sessions for 7 days over the holidays.

Peter Gates was introduced to North Mymms CC by Peter Tyler, a long-standing friend and the owner of Tyler Sports Wear, who specialise in bespoke personalised clothing.

P W Gates was one of their first customers, going back as far as 1999.

The two Hertfordshire-based business owners have the same business philosophy as they are both advocates for local businesses. Peter Tyler, a cricket fan and supporter of North Mymms CC, contacted Peter Gates and ask if P W Gates could sponsor their Junior teams and coaches in the Hertfordshire Leagues, after North Mymms CC lost their 2020 sponsor.

Peter Gates is delighted to sponsor the Juniors and may even pop down to Welham Green to catch some cricket and a little bit of nostalgia during the summer months.
